V's Heart carries forward Vera Mae Gordon's belief that every person deserves care, encouragement and a chance to grow.
V's Heart was founded in 2021 by Veanneitta “V” Brown in loving memory of her grandmother, Vera Mae Gordon. Known for sharing whatever she had, Vera inspired generations through kindness, generosity and hope.
The “V” in V's Heart stands for both of them: Vera, whose heart started it all, and Veanneitta, who carries that heart forward. Today, their shared legacy lives on in every family supported and every door opened.
V's Heart is a volunteer-led nonprofit organization serving families, youth, seniors, caregivers, and individuals across 16 North Texas counties. Founded on the belief that everyone deserves access to stability, opportunity, and hope, V's Heart provides practical support and compassionate services that strengthen households and empower communities. Our programs address immediate needs while creating pathways to long-term success through education, youth development, family support, and life-transition services.
V's Heart stabilizes households, expands educational opportunity, equips youth and young adults with life-readiness skills, and provides compassionate support to families, seniors, caregivers, and individuals during life transitions through a holistic, trauma-informed, four-pillar model.
V's Heart envisions a North Texas community where families, youth, seniors, students, caregivers, and individuals across every stage of life have equitable access to stability, safety, education, opportunity, and compassionate support, creating long-term resilience and generational impact.
The V's Heart butterfly represents transformation, love, legacy, and purpose. The left wing honors the founder's grandmother, whose compassion and commitment to serving others inspired the organization's foundation. The right wing represents the founder carrying that legacy forward. The space between the wings symbolizes the gaps families face in resources, healthcare, education, and opportunity. The heart at the top represents the love that connects generations and communities.
Just as the “V” in our name honors Vera and Veanneitta, the two wings carry one heart across generations. Together, the butterfly symbolizes V's Heart's mission to bridge gaps for families with compassion and care.
